Why hire a videographer instead of a video production company?
Budgets for big agency productions have shrunk, but audiences still expect video that looks polished. As a videographer who directs, shoots, edits and grades, I deliver that big-budget look without the cost of a large crew and several layers of management. You also deal with one person from start to finish, which keeps the process simple.
Where are you based and where do you film?
I'm based in Wellington and film all over the region, including Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, Kāpiti and Wairarapa. I travel anywhere in New Zealand, and overseas when needed. The Kiwibank Home Loan ad was shot in Fiji.
How much does a video cost?
Every project is quoted individually. The main drivers are shoot days, crew size, locations, talent, music and how many versions you need. After a short chat I'll send a fixed quote. There's more detail in this guide.
What kinds of video do you make?
TV commercials and online ads, corporate videos, short documentaries, recruitment videos, government content and drone footage.
What gear do you use?
RED 8K and Kinefinity MAVO Edge 6K cinema cameras, cinema lenses, an Easyrig and gimbal, lighting and sound kit, a drone (flown under CAA Part 101, with Part 102 pilots near airports), and my own edit and grading suite.
Do you work through agencies?
Yes. I work directly with organisations, and I also direct and shoot for agencies, including VMLY&R and EightyOne.
Can I get versions for social media?
Yes. I deliver 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16 versions with captions.
Are you on the government's AoG panel?
